This College was established in the year 1978 with a student population of twelve. Now it is considered to be one of the prominent Arabic Colleges in the country. It provides an enhanced religious education with an advanced Arabic Language Course to the orphaned children. Upto date it has produced 140 Moulavis. Out of this number, there are about 27 Foreign University Graduates and 25 local University Graduates. Here at MMO, an eight year course is provided and the syllabus varies with different Madrasas. Memorising the Holy Quran is also conducted in the Madrasa.

Those passing out of this Arabic College, would also sit for the G.C.E. O/L and A/L Examinations and the Al-Alim Examination, conducted by the Examinations Department, Sri Lanka.

At present, there are 170 students pursuing education in this institution. It has been recognized by "The Department of Religious and Cultural Affairs", Sri Lanka and also by the "Islamic University of Madina", Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Makola Muslim Orphanage is sponsoring more than 300 Girl Orphans by funding and supporting for their education.
